The Position: High Voltage Technician (Switchgear)
Under the supervision of the Foreman, this position is responsible for the maintenance/repair activities of generators, motors, programmable logical controllers, electrical drive systems, electrical/electronic control systems, on the terminal’s equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Receive and execute instructions and decisions from the Foreman.

• Ensure adherence to established safety practices in the execution
of assignments and in the use of tools, equipment and machinery.

• Provide technical expertise and a positive attitude to the functions
performed.

• Troubleshoot and effect repairs on High voltage electrical and
electronic circuits, digital drive and control systems and
programmable logic controllers.

• Service, repair, deploy, remove and stow away equipment as
required using safe driving techniques and safe parking
procedures.

• Perform other related functions required from time to time such as
assistance with major emergency work.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Comply with all disaster contingency cleanliness.

• Ensure adherence to established safety practices in the execution
of assignments and in the use of tools, equipment and machinery.

• Assist in maintenance of a safe working environment.


CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
• OND / HND (electricals)
• On-hand working experience of minimum 5 years with any
reputable company dealing with high voltage switchgears
(11kVonwards) / power transformers, power lay-outs etc.
• Should be familiar with HV Switchgears installation and repairs.
• Should have hands-on experience for HV cable laying/jointing
procedures.
• Should have knowledge of electrical safety standards in medium
and high voltage range.
• Should have knowledge of international electrical standards.
