MIMO and Tower Top Technologies

Applications are invited for a Masters studentship in the area of MIMO technologies for mobile communications. Led by Dr. Ronan Farrell, and as part of a larger collaborative research programme within the SFI Centre for Telecommunications Value-Chain Research (CTVR), this project will result in close interaction with Bell Labs Ireland and a number of collaborating researchers.
The institute has a number of maturing research programmes which together can contribute towards true tower-top systems. In this project we would like to bring together in a single testbed our developments in the area of programmable platforms, array calibration schemes and digital power amplifiers to construct a MIMO system for evaluation of these technologies.

Interested candidates should hold a first or upper second class honours degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline. As a large element of this project will be focussed on circuit design with emphasis on practical implementation, the ideal candidate should have an interest in novel electronic circuits and in developing working prototypes.
Successful candidates will join a large multi-disciplinary team and be enrolled on a full-time Masters of Engineering Science.

The studentship will comprise of fees and an annual stipend of 17,000 Euros. It will be initially awarded for a period of 18 months years. The position is available immediately though, upon agreement, the start date may be postponed to January 2008.

Job profile / key responsibilities:

The Pre-Sales Consultant is responsible for providing technical
pre-sales support for field sales personnel. This includes performing the
installation, configuration, and demonstration of RES Software̢۪s
full product line, delivering technical presentations to customers and
partners, developing analytical solutions and implementing actions
required to solve sales issues, coordinating appropriate corporate resources,
providing communications to sales personnel and management, and
escalating concerns when appropriate.
The Pre-Sales Consultant is responsible for explaining how RES
Software̢۪s technology can fit into customer architecture, and to spot
opportunities in this respect.
The Pre-Sales Consultant is also responsible for of expanded product
knowledge and technical skills that allow then to manage, build and
deliver proof of concepts on emerging technology.

Primary Responsibilities:

Internally:
̢ۢ Partners with Sales Managers to develop account / territory
plans and sales strategy
̢ۢ Provides the technical pre-sales support required for field
sales personnel to attain or exceed sales revenue objectives by clarifying
RES Software̢۪s product capabilities and applications through
product and corporate positioning.
̢ۢ Keeps up to date with new products, messaging, horizontal and
vertical market trends, supporting technologies and competitive
intelligence
̢ۢ Works closely with other members of the Enterprise Services
team to share ideas, skills, tools and willingly offers and accepts
assistance as required to ensure both individual and team goals are met
̢ۢ Works closely with Product Management teams to ensure the
product direction meets the needs of the customers/prospects

Externally:
̢ۢ Provides technical qualification of opportunities
̢ۢ Establishes technical credibility within the account and builds
trust with customer influencers and decision makers
̢ۢ Leads technical discovery sessions with prospects to map
requirements to solutions
̢ۢ Develops and deliver compelling customized demonstrations and
presentations to meet customer/prospect requirements
̢ۢ Performs installation, configuration, and demonstration of RES
Software̢۪s full product line customized to specific customer
requirements to facilitate the sale of RES Software̢۪s products.
This includes the building and delivery of demonstration and proof of
concepts specific to RES Software̢۪s technology and products.
̢ۢ Demonstrates an in depth understanding of RES Software̢۪s
products and is able to articulate product features, business benefits
and competitive advantages
̢ۢ Takes ownership of the technical sales cycle for an opportunity
and orchestrates additional subject matter expertise as required
̢ۢ Provides technical account management to existing accounts,
ensuring customer satisfaction and identifying incremental revenue
opportunities
̢ۢ Provide on-site technical troubleshooting of product problems,
coordinating appropriate corporate resources as needed for resolution,
providing communications to sales personnel and corporate support
personnel, and escalating concerns when appropriate.
̢ۢ Takes ownership of the production of RFIs/RFPs responses,
ensuring the consistency and quality of responses and presentation

and construction of major refining projects and petrochemical
processing.

They are looking for a two Mechanical Engineers (1 in Aberdeen, 1 in
Norway) with subsea tree experience to perform the Engineering design
function by applying his/her technical expertise in a professional manner
in order to comply with prescribed objectives.

The Engineer may also supervise projects, in the role of a Project
Engineer where he/she is responsible for verifying compliance with
applicable codes, standards and customer requirements through to the approval
of drawings, designs and specifications.

The function involves design layouts, design calculations, design
reviews and design verification.

The Engineer shall supervise prototype testing to verify that the
functional and design criteria are being achieved.

In addition, the Engineer shall be responsible for the supervision of
allocated technical personnel in an organised manner to ensure
compliance with the engineering departmental procedures which form part of the
overall quality system manual.

The Engineer will be required to provide technical support to any other
Subsea Department in the organisation as required.
