VACANCY FOR AN IT OFFICER

There is an urgent need for a suitable personnel for the office above in an aviation company.

The requirements are stated below.

Role Title: Network Engineer
Reporting To: Manager, I. T.
Location; Lagos
Age; 26 years max.

Role Purpose;

To ensure the continuous and stable operation of the network. This includes assisting in planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, support, and optimizing all hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

Main areas of responsibility:

Manage servers, including email, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSes.
Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.
Inspect, maintain, and where necessary replace network cabling, voice / data jacks, and other network-related equipment.
Assist in achieving the organization’ s optimal network performance.
Assist to administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Perform system backups and recovery.
Ability to design and develop relational databases e.g. Microsoft Access will be an added advantage.

Qualification, skills and knowledge required:

University degree in computer science or a related engineering degree.
At least 2 years post-qualification working experience.
Microsoft and Cisco certifications advantageous.
Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows NT / 2000 / 2003 / XP.
Skilled at installing / configuring hubs, switches, routers, bridges, etc.
Ability to manage Email Server-client Applications; IBM Lotus Notes / MS Exchange.
Proficient and working technical knowledge of Microsoft Access 200x (MySQL, MS SQL Server added advantage).
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP.
Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong inter-personal skills.
Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
Highly self motivated and directed.
Proven analytical and problem solving abilities.
Customer service orientation.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
